An atheist detective has his beliefs called into question...Are your beliefs ready to be tested?
While investigating a missing person's case involving a philosophy professor, Professor Connelly, who was working on the proof of God, avowed atheist Detective Shamus O'Shea's beliefs are called into question. Strange characters, troublesome clues and altercations with nefarious people all stand in the way of the solving the mystery. Will O'Shea find the missing professor...and discover the missing proof of God that could change his life forever? Proof of God will appeal to fans of detective and crime novels, science fiction and crime scene investigation along with those interested in metaphysical questions about God, the supernatural and the spiritual.
O'Shea, while investigating the puzzling crime scene, finds Dr. Connelly and his book called Proof of God have disapeared without a trace. The rationally inexplicable crime scene found in the professors office alludes all understanding. He and his super sexy, extremely competent, and highly intelligent partner Victoria Quinn attempt to determine the cause of the unusual, selective disappearance much of the professor's office -- a good portion of the office having not been destroyed, but just mysteriously vanished.
The Detectives O'Shea and Quinn noted that a significant portion of the office disappeared as if it never had existed--no residues observed, no smoke detected, no heat rendered, etc. The shape impressed upon the office objects-- office furniture, fixtures, book cases and file cabinets-- the remainder of these things--formed a perfect, nine-foot, spherical imprint of the missing contents. Oddly, a pair of highly-priced Italian made shoes with the perfectly severed feet still in them made the scene macabre and ghoulish among the precise and sterile backdrop of the missing office matter.
It is during that search and several interviews with some curious, peculiar and unscrupulous characters-- a revealing chat with the Professor's mysterious housekeeper Miss Wolf who apparently ambulates, floats and whirls on legless stockings--to the direct interrogation of Pauley Fingers the reputed boss of the NYC rackets. O'Shea and Quinn, after pressing for some leads, find Professor Connelly forced into hiding by his own reckoning to counter fears to his own wellbeing, resurfaces under an assumed name, Mr. A. Priori. As the mystery, elucidation and secrets of the metaphysical, ontological seventh proof of God was about to be disclosed to O'Shea by the professor, the lights went out and Connelly disappeared again. This time foul play was most certain and the trail went cold. They found Connelly and they lost him! Shamus, an intellectual, a seasoned detective, an avowed atheist, metaphysically and spiritually conflicted, has again been rebuked by the chief for being an alleged screw-up as he is accused of drinking again. O'Shea persists and turns one moss ridden stone after another to uncover clues and right the wrongs he created through sheer good planing using bad ideas.
Shamus loves a philosophical argument. His life is centered around philosophy; if fact, he has a Masters in the subject. Finding no careers in the philosophy field, he became a NYPD detective. This case offers him chance at using his schooling to solve a crime mystery. O'Shea is the metaphysical detective, in the postmodern sense. His head and heart are in philosophy and his ass is in a squad car. His methods and actions lead him on a ontological adventure, a supernatural journey, a mystery centered around the powerful and mysterious proof of God.
Will Shamus O'Shea and his make shift team find the professor and discover the professor's proof of God. Will such a discovery change his long held beliefs? Will the malevolent agents who desire to spin a web of evil using the powers of the proof of God succumb to the temperamental prowess of our metaphysical detective?

Proof of God The Metaphysical Detective A Novel edition by A J Grady Kristin Grady Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
A.J.Grady has written a story about a well-educated detective and his tough, highly skilled partner, searching for a missing philosophy professor. The circumstances surrounding the apparent kidnapping, and murder, do not add up to a by-the-book scenario. How does a locked, windowless office end up with a perfect 9 foot cylinder ice-cream type scoop, including all the furniture, extracted from the center? Why are two pricey Italian shoes the only items remaining in the middle of this void, with the feet and ankles intact? And where is the rest of the body, why isn't there any blood splatter, and why is there only one missing file? Very curious. While they track unusual leads, and strange individuals, they have many philosophical discussions regarding religion, faith, God, and history. Although the story line is not one that would normally catch my eye, I am so glad I bought this book. The banter between the two detectives, and the assorted, odd people they interview along the way, is hilarious. Pauley Fingers, Dr.Watts, and a guy named Guy are several that gave me a good laugh. If you enjoy a mystery, and a good strong debate with respect to the Proof of God, and if there actually is one, then this book is for you. A.J.Grady is an incredible writer, and his research, and humour, was spot on.

Proof of God The Metaphysical Detective A Novel edition by A J Grady Kristin Grady Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
A.J.Grady is either a genius or has a tremendous skill for research and presentation. Either way, he has written an impressive novel that is as enlightening as it is hilarious.
Shamus O'Shea is an intellectual atheist first and a missing persons detective second, as evidenced by the way he jumps at every chance to argue with anyone foolish enough to bring up either philosophy or theology within earshot. While O'Shea is busy clashing with nearly every personality he stumbles across, his beautiful partner Detective Victoria Quinn is equally busy charming her way around the problems he creates. It doesn't hurt that she is as brilliant as she is beautiful.
When the cerebral duo are sent to investigate missing Professor Connolly, they have no idea they will soon be embroiled in the most fascinating case of their careers, a case that my actually lead to irrefutable evidence that God exists. From evil corporations to secret government agencies, they race from clue to clue until they find themselves so deeply entangled with bad guys and evil intentions that it starts to look as if an act of God might be their only way out.
Read Proof of God with a dictionary in hand and box of tissues by your side, to wipe away the tears of laughter. To say this is a wildly entertaining romp would cut short the deep philosophy and theology that lie at the core of this fascinating story.
If you like the idea of giggling as you learn, this is definitely the novel for you.
A philosophy professor disappears just before publication of his new book containing an original "perfect" proof of the existence of God. The proof, knowledge of which is rumored to bestow powers such as the ability to see the future, also disappears. Narrator NYPD Detective Shamus O'Shea, an atheist with a master's degree in philosophy, and his partner Quinn discover that a variety of parties are interested in the professor and his proof, including crime boss Pauley Fingers, who is afraid of the effect of the new powers on his gambling business, and the federal Office of Metaphysics and Phenomena, which is interested in their defense applications. The detectives' investigations take them as far afield as Quantico VA and include mishaps like a car chase that results in the overturning of a truck of super glue, with predictable results. Interspersed with the action are Shamus' short discussions of the works of philosophers like Kant, Augustine, Aquinas, and others.
As someone who enjoys mysteries, SF, humor, and philosophy, I was fully prepared to enjoy this book but had to force myself to keep going, motivated by a strong urge to see how it would turn out. Although the idea for the plot was clever, this book is so poorly written that eventually I was paying more attention to the writing than to the story. The problems were on all levels and were on pretty much every page. There were MANY examples of substituted homonyms, such as "their" for "there" and substitutions of similar words, such as "tutor" instead of "tudor". There were changes of tense within a sentence. There were errors of word usage that spoiled some otherwise clever statements, such as when Shamus says that Quinn came from a long line of cops, tracing her ancestry all the way back to a Roman "century". A "century" is a group of soldiers; a "centurion" is a single soldier. And there were many sentences that were just awkward, such as "The apron was secured by a tie behind her back tied with a perfect bow."
This book is only $2.99, but I am not sure I would recommend even it at that price. I'm glad I borrowed it free from the Lending Library.
This appears to be a first novel, and the concept is interesting enough that I do not want to discourage the author from writing more. However, I'd suggest that something like participating in a writing group or a good editor might help him do a better job next time of putting his good ideas down on paper.
